The images of Black Saturday have touched us all. The face of CFA, may be the people in yellow pants and hats, but don’t forget the people behind the scenes.
We have all seen photos of those who helped.
Dirty, black and yellow, red and grey, exhausted, crying, smiling quietly over the little wins, but never ever complaining.
Some stood and waited to be sent to the fire front. Others left to protect their local communities or fought the fires far afield.
Their families were left to wait and worry.
They gave so much, and expected nothing in return.
The plan is to release a new commemorative Rose every year. Sales of the Rose will raise money for CFA.
The first Rose in the series is called FIRESTAR.
How can you help?
You can be a friend of FIRESTAR, raising funds to support CFA.
You can replace equipment and help implement training and support programs for Volunteers.
The idea of FIRESTAR is to bring a little joy to everyone who has suffered. It will allow us to reflect on what it is to have mates, and to share the burdens of tough times.
No doubt FIRESTAR will become a lasting reminder of the suffering and bravery that occurred.
Would you like to help market FIRESTAR and support CFA? More information can be found on the FIRESTAR website.
